Last year's GCS tournament was amazing and the final event was a huge success in many ways. However due to communication issues with the venue owners the live event did not go quite as planned from a technical standpoint.
Therefore there is a burning desire to absolutely smash a live event concept and deliver an incredible viewing experience for fans at home, players, and benefactors in live attendance. If GCS1 was a prototype, GCS2 will hopefully be a magnum opus.
Venue: This all wouldn't be possible without community member Ed80hertz who is kindly supplying an amazing venue free of charge together with his brother. This will give us the opportunity to plan for much longer, taking time and care to ensure the live tournament is a huge success.
Equipment: Also our friends at Relic Entertainment and SEGA have put us in touch with a fantastic supplier of rented hardware in the region, and will be funding the principle supply and use of top spec gaming equipment.
The live event will allow us to:
Fans: support and general enquiries: info@gcs2.org
Players: competition, fair play, and player travel: compete@gcs2.org
In GCS1 due to crashes (bugsplats) our rules were left exposed as not being robust enough. Therefore a lot of care and attention has been made to completely re-write and expand upon them. GCS2 rules.
On top of that our refereeing team has grown and we will have a lot more on-the-day help to offer better coverage and to ensure impartiality.
We have chosen to create a stand-alone funding platform and website for a number of reasons - primarily:
The team involved include:
Tournament Director: "A_E" Matt Dunn - organising, casting, web content and art.
Website Designer: "Janne252" Janne Varjo - coding, maintenance, and design.
Stream Producer: "Stormless" Danny Hobden - creating the live content, casting, and video editing
Venue Manager: "Ed80Hertz" Ed Atinks - venue and live event management.
Referees: Currahee, Legio IX Hispana, Ishtari, Sturmpanther, FaHu.
Five lucky patrons will have their names drawn out of a hat in an independently verified process at the live event, these people will then be contacted for their home addresses, and their prizes will be mailed to them.
Note: the raffle is simply a way to reward people that are donating, it does not constitute gambling as all benefactors accept that donating to the GCS2 project is its own reward first and foremost.
